Your Not Financially Savvy If.....

Good Morning Family How are you today?

Clues that someone isn't financially savvy?
If they leasing a car.

Carrying a balance on a credit card (other than exploiting 0% deals for those of us who are savvy).

Using payday lenders or check cashing places.

Buying lottery tickets as a regular habit (not the occasional dream purchase).

Going shopping because the store is having a big sale even though they freely admit they don't need anything.

Anyone who thinks that someone with a lot of expensive things actually has a lot of money,

Borrowing money from your 401k for anything other than an absolute emergency. And even then...

Interest only mortgages. (especially if held until the "interest-only" time period expires, and the holder is not prepared for a large increase in payments)

A classic from the recent recession: "I've lost almost everything from my investments. I might as well pull out what's left and put it into something more safe." You don't lose anything (other than market value) unless you sell!!

4. Using an ATM at a casino.

Extreme Coupon Event

Good Morning Family How are you today.

Hey everyone here's the deal with the Extreme Coupon Event I went to yesterday. The main points of interest that was talked about was.
Never use coupons on full priced items.
Wait until the item you want to buy is at rock bottom in price and then use your coupon for it.
In 3 months of using coupons you should be saving 50% on your grocery bills.
Use your coupons to purchase food for the food bank and other worthy charities.
Everyone should have an Emergency food panty just like you have an emergency money fund.
Always have a price in mind of what you want to pay when it comes to your grocery shopping. Example for a box of cereal say that in your mind you will not pay over $2.50 a box and stick to that price when you go food shopping.
Look in your local newspapers and on line for coupons.
Also the Extreme Coupon Reality Show is rigged-ed but we all knew that right.
The event was interesting it's just that I live In New York and the presenters were from Las Vegas which you can not compare because their supermarkets is way cheaper then mine. I know I go to them when I visit Vegas and I love their prices.

Spring Time

Good Morning Family How Are you Today? I just wanted to let you know that it's Springtime and it's time to get out and have fun! Yesterday I got got out and me and a good friend  went to a Movie Premiere, ate  movie popcorn  it was good to with a big bottle of water all for free. Why because with the summer coming and Spring  already here there are many events that you can go to for free and if not free then at a very low cost. You just have to know where to look. For example I am attending a  how to save with coupons event given my my local newspaper for free.  Look on line for free events in your area, look in your community newspapers, ask around I am sure that you can find some good free stuff to do with you and your children. I use eventbright when I look for free events in my area to go to. It's Spring having fun does not have to be expense it just has to be fun and cheap!  Personally I prefer free myself!

Also wanted to mention that I talked about a lot of free stuff on The Cheap Cheetah Money Show today. www.blogtalkradio.com/cheap-cheetah.
So when you get a chance listen in and tell me what you think? On that note have a Great Cheap Cheetah Day!

Cheap Food Bills

Lowering my grocery bill

A few ideas:

  • Do a better job meal planning.
  • Make things from scratch rather than pre-made.
  • Use leftovers for lunches, etc.
  • Have a large freezer for storage.
  • Buy things like meat when on sale in larger quantities, then re-package and freeze for future.
  • Replace pop and bottled drinks with lemonade, iced tea, etc.
  • Grow a garden, use the harvest and can or freeze the excess.
  • Don't buy bottled water.
  • Forget coupons. They are for expensive brand name convenience items. That said, with a sale and a coupon, they can occasionally work out to be a better deal than a store brand alternative but most of the time they are not.
  • Focus on avoiding convenience foods and doing most cooking from scratch. It is far healthier and far cheaper. Buy store brands whenever possible.
  • Always look for coupons in the grocery store and in your home circulars.
  • The stores generic brands are just as good and sometimes better then the name brands-try them and see,
  • Wait for a free admission to places like PJs. Costco Sam's club and see if you like their prices there. ( these are food warehouses)
There are so many ways that you can lower your food bill you just have to think creatively and be willing to try less expensive things then your use to. Have a Great Cheap Cheetah Week!
