Ellen Meets Powerball Winner and Single Mom Lerynne West

Hello Family How Are You Today?

I know this has nothing to do with being a frugal/cheapskate. but...…. I just wanted to know would you do this if you won a lot of money? This lady won a large sum in Powerball and then she went on the Ellen show giving her more exposure then I would have thought she needed. With that kind of exposure your opening yourself up to a whole lot of unwanted attention. What ever happen to people doing things quietly? Just my thoughts what do you think?

Hello  Family How Are You Today?

Ideas Of What Inspire People to Save $$

I find that I am much more motivated to save money after I have found a really good deal on something

The challenge of finding new ways to save money. I love it when I discover a new way to save money on something. It's a great feeling.

Having a peace of mind knowing that my house is paid for and my bills are paid.

I put all the money I save towards getting a new car! I

I set goals for myself and as I reach those goals, I'm even more motivated to keep working toward more goals.

I also spend time with other like-minded people and find it encouraging and inspiring.

If I feel the need to splurge, I go to the thrift store to do cheap damages. I have a great time there and just $10 is like a small fortune there.

Nothing beats having solid goals and knowing what I want and working toward those goals though. Any foolish spending is just sabotaging what I KNOW I want.

I feel empowered when I save money in small ways and know that it's the combination of many small ways that allows my family to enjoy other things, as well as saving.

To not have the same financial problems that my parents currently have. Part of my tight finances is helping them out. I don't want to end up having my children face the same problem.

Looking ahead to retirement does more than inspire me

The thoughts of becoming a bag lady inspire me to save more and spend less. I know that I could not make enough to support myself if something happened to my husband.

Watching the savings grow!

Watching our mortgage go down motivates me.

Seeing how in debt my Mother In Law is REALLY motivates me! (that one got hubby on the band wagon too!)

I love owning my house free and clear. Seeing the mortgage go down every month on our land is a big motivator for me.

For me personally the amount of  money I have to spend on my prescription drugs and the high price of living in new York motivated me everyday.

These are some of the things that inspire people to save. I know you share some of the same motivation. I know I can relate. To some of these myself.

Amazing Living Room Remodel Part 1

Hey Family How are you today?

I came across this women's video she did a great job remolding her living room on a tight budget. Her videos are pretty good when it comes to her being a cheapskate. I love the fact that  she got her coach out of the dumpster. Watch and tell me what you think.

Building Wealth Ideas

Hello Family How Are You Today?

The don't to having fun and still building wealth

1.) Smoking has never appealed to me so that's easy. To save money from not smoking beside a pack of smokes cost darn near $20 a pack in New York.

2.) I take Don't Drink as Don't be an alcoholic. Alcohol in moderation or for special events isn't going to blow the budget if you plan for it. I wouldn't make it a daily or weekly event. If I'm out on the patio and there is a beautiful sunset, I might want a margarita to go with my fajitas. I drink nowadays only when it's free. even then I might have a glass or two of a sweet drink like a toasted almond or a baileys on ice . I likes these drinks  when I can get them free and take the place of me having dessert.

3.) Don't do drugs. That's obvious with the illegal drugs, but don't be a prescription drug junkie either. Medication is fine if needed. Drugs will take a lot of money I know my drugs cost me about $1500 every 3 months. But these are needed. Look at the drugs your taking if you can cut back on the cost and save the money. Then do it without harming yourself.

4.) Don't gamble means don't make it a regular habit. If I go to Vegas every few years and budget $1500 or whatever amount for entertainment, then it's ok to put it in the slot machines. If you're cashing the paycheck and baby won't have shoes, then it's a problem. I  agree with this. To cut back on my gambling I play  free casino games on my iPad. This has help me cut back from going  to my local gambling hole a lot.

5.) Don't borrow money means don't buy crap you don't need with credit or credit cards. Live within your means. Maybe it means you need to buy a three bedroom house or rent instead of getting the 4000 Mcmansion with five bathrooms that your credit company allowed you to qualify for even though there is a risk you cannot pay it back. Look at all the foreclosures we have had because of this.

6.) I'm not sure about driving 6,000 miles a year. I love  to drive so it isn't a problem for me. It might be something you need to do for your job. Maybe  you just enjoy driving when you take trips instead of flying . but make sure you have a reliable car that's great on gas and it can go the distance with out it costing you a lot of money to do so. Taking about repairs every two weeks.
There is a quality of life  that we all must enjoy and we can do that and save money all at the same time.  You just have to do the things that are right for you while still living your frugal/cheapskate life.

Happy March!

Hello  Family  How Are You Today?

Hope that March is treating you well. Here's the thing have you every thought about the desire to save money but you also feel that life is to short and you need to live a little to. That's me all the time needing to find the best bang for my buck. But also wanting to enjoy the fruits of my labor. What's a person to do? This is what I do I set aside a fix amount to save say 10-15% of what I earn and after all my bills are paid then I take the rest and enjoy it.  Life is what you make it and sometimes we need to say to Heck with saving let's spend some of it.  Mind you I did say some of it not all. And this is after all the bills are paid and you have some extra money in the bank for those just in case moments. ( car breaks down, appliances stop working, roof leaks etc.)

Yes I am a cheapskate and love being one but I realize as I get older life is short so living your life and  enjoying it  while  saving is all we can do and that's come from a cheapskate!
