 Hello all, how is everybody today? Life is scary enough add medical l expenses and you have a horror show.  I was reading this article today https://www.mprnews.org/story/2018/07/02/health-care-gofundme-crowdfunding-doctor-bills-minn about how people are now using Go fund Me and other crowd funding platforms to pay for their medical expenses.

Is it just me or do you think that our so call government like in other countries should help us foot some of the medical expenses that most of us can't afford. I don't care how frugal/cheap you are medical expenses can wipe out all of your hard earned saving in a blink of an eye.

That's what I most fear that my medical expenses which I have a few along with my drugs will lead me very close to the I can't pay this edge. I know you say get medical insurance to cover your medical expenses. But like my partner says insurance is only a promise to pay.

I come to realize something being a cheapskate/frugal person just can't fix help you save  enough money for these out of control medical and drug cost. I could be wrong what do you think?

Going To The Club/Bar

                                              Hello Family How Are You Today?

Going to the Club/Bar as a frugal/cheapskate is to expensive & crazy.  Do we even put this as part of our entertainment budget anymore? Speaking as an older adult  I remember clubbing with the drinks the people and loud music. Back then it was cheap when I was  into the club scene which was Saturday and Thursday nights. But back then the clubs were free on Thursday night for ladies and Saturday before 10 o'clock it was $7 dollars to get in. The drinks were $5-7 dollars in a nice tall glass and they were not water down as much as they are today. The people were out to party and meet new people. I have met some nice people while clubbing. Some of my better boyfriends came from the clubs Not like it is today. What I m saying is it was cheaper and safer to go clubbing back in the day then it is now.

Today the cover charge for some clubs are over $20 bucks. Let's not talk about the drinks they will run you about $10 and higher for a small glass of watered down liquor. I remember seeing music rapper and the likes go to clubs and buy $100 bottles of champagne and  vodka. I mean bottles of it. That's crazy their bills at the end of the night would be in the hundreds just for liquor.  With the money they are spending on liquor in the club you can do other things and still have money left to buy you  a nice $10  bottle of wine at the liquor store.

You want to be seen in the latest whatever outfit & shoes that you paid a lot of money for. This is a younger person's mind set nowadays. God forbid they come to the club in something that they got at a second hand store. So now you spending a couple hundred to look good for one night. I remember whatever was in my closet on the night I was going out that's what I was wearing. Basically I wore black skirts, pants  with nice colorful tops and belts. I looked pretty and the outfits were cheap.

The music is to darn loud. Especially for my ears now and the crowd. It's way to much for me. Your in a pack house with no room to breath it's 110 degrees  in there.  Wall to wall people on top of you with loud music blasting in your ear and on top of that you paid for this. That's crazy.

Meeting new people. I remember back in the day you could go to the club and meet some decent people. Now people seem to be meeting the crazies. People are in clubs today to hook up. Some of them have no problem going home with strangers for the night. Not thinking if this stranger is a crazy or not.  You can keep that it's not worth losing you life over a possible hook up.

I not even going to talk about the drugs being taken in the clubs nowadays. That a whole  story in itself and another expense to add.

With all this said the clubs/bars use to be a nice place to go relax and spend some quality time with friends and meeting new people with the expenses at a minimum.  Now I know it's not worth it no matter how you look at it money wise or health wise.

Yesterday I was reading this article the top one that say's filthy rich. The story goes like this. This women who lives in New York collects cans and other stuff as you can see in the picture. That's her car by the way she's standing in front of with the graffiti  all over it. This women makes about $25-30 dollars collecting can but.... she's worth 8 million dollars because she owns two brownstones in Harlem that her and her husband got for cheap back in the day. Needless to say she also owns a condo in a nice area that she purchased for $22,000 back in the day.

Now her brownstones are not rented out and they need work but if she were to sell them she would get about 8 million. When I read this story all I could say is wow. She claims picking up cans is a hobby that gets her out of the house and get's her walking.

I mean look at her car it's on it's last leg. If it was me my brownstones would be rented out. I could get about 2-3 thousand a month for the apts if not more. I would at least buy me a new car.  and I know one thing I would leave the can pick up to people who really need the money. Or donate what I make from it.

I am amazed how people with so much money refused to spend some of it on themselves for their betterment or enjoyment. What do you think?

Cheap Summer Parties

                               Cheap Summer Parties Ideas

It's summertime and the parties are easy and cheap/Frugal.  well all like to invite friends over for a good time, Play music, eat good food and have some tasty drinks in the warm weather with out it effecting our pocketbooks to much . So here are some cheap party ideas for the summer.

1.  Throw a  party of your favorite T.V Show. For example Mad Men the theme would be 60's drinks, attire. Or Hawaii Five 0 which would be a Hawaii theme, What about Empire which would be a record label theme you get the point..  Remember the food, drinks and the creativity makes these parties fun.

2. Dollar stores, 99 cents stores. Take a $20 and  go wild making up a cool party  theme with the crazy stuff these stories have.

3. Invite the party to the beach or community pool . Bring the  refreshments and the music and party.

4 With the summer  it means out door events and movies. Take advantage of the free movie night or concert nights you have in your area. Invite your friends bring the refreshments and enjoy the event.

5 Where I live in New York they have food truck festival. that's where a lot of different food truck get together in one place and show off what they sell. This would be a great place to party. The food is already there. The drinks would be on you. Sodas and waters and you have a chance with your friends to sample some good food.   Look for events like this to share with your friends and where you can make a party out of it.

6. Find a spot that is not only pretty but unusual and have a dinner party with your friends. Pizza and sides with a nice bottle of the cheap but good stuff does the trick.

7. We all know potluck barbecue, invite  friend they bring some stuff and we have potluck barbecue.

8 Cool summer desserts party. You can see I love sweets why not plan a summer dessert party with friends. You supply the place, a dessert and the drinks, Your friends supply the other desserts and   the fun.

Summer is a time for fun, friends and good eats on the cheap. Keep your parties fun and simple. Simple food, wines and desserts. Remember it all about the company the rest of the stuff is just the icing  on the cake ( see I told you I love desserts). Have a great summer.

Saving For Health

                                                            Hello My Family How Are You Today?

Well today I am talking to you about a personal situation when it comes to health care. I was in the hospital this past week . I had to have surgery for something. The hospital was suppose to keep me overnight, but they have a policy that they only keep you for 6 hours and send you home because the insurance companies don't want to pay for overnight stays any longer. Anyway being a cheapskate when I was introduce to the doctors who would perform the surgery. First think I asked them if they took my insurance because I did not want any extra bills from this coming my way.

I also told the  nurses that took care of me don't give me any medication that is not covered under my insurance plan. Was I being to cheap with my health? I realized that if it's was not for my partner having good insurance I would be  screwed when it came to my medical expenses. That's why I wanted to tell you that you need  good medical insurance and extra money on the side for medications and co pays. I still have to pay co- pays when I go to the doctors but I am ok with that has long as the insurance company covers the rest. And if you have not notice  Heath Care is expensive

So no matter what insurance you have make sure you set some money aside extra for the unexpected medical cost that insurance companies don't pay for.
