Sometimes it pays to wait. What I mean by that is living in NYC. They wanted everybody to purchase a $55 large garbage can from them with their logo on it. A notice went around last year about purchasing it. I say I'm not buying anything. My trash can is the same as theirs, except without the logo on it. Besides, I'm too cheap to purchase a garbage can for that much. Anyway, they sent another letter stating that you can get a refund if you purchase the garbage can. Now it makes the can free. So, I purchased the garbage can because if you don't have it by April of 2026, they will fine you. Thanks, New York! So now I'm just waiting on the refund of $55 dollars. Which will take about 6 weeks to get. But so, what, I got the garbage can free, that's all that mattered.
Also surprised I found out I overpaid my property taxes in the tune of $217 dollars. That's another refund I'm waiting on. At this rate, 2026 is looking to be the refund year for me. What about you?
