Thanksgiving Already?

Ok, so it's pretty close to Thanksgiving and I have started to look at these $25 dollar thanksgiving meal challenges on youtube. I just seen where Target stores are saying that for $20 dollars you can have a thanksgiving dinner for a family of 4. That's not too bad I say. Also, I think the food part of thanksgiving is overrated. I say spend time with family and have a simple meal like chicken or a pasta dish and just enjoy more family than food. I say this because a lot of families are not able to spend a lot of money on Thanksgiving let alone when it's not Thanksgiving. We should all be grateful that we have our health, family and a simple meal to share with each other on that day or any other day for that matter.

As far as money saving goes for the holiday let's enjoy the holidays and don't think about money to much. Because there's always 2025 to get ready to think of new ideas and ways to save, make and have fun with money.

 Happy Sunday. Just a quick money tip for you. If you ever need a reality check of what not to do with your money or what to do with it. I would suggest you watch how lotter changed my life on YouTube  and also billionaires who live cheap. I found myself watching programs on YouTube of over spenders and under spenders just to get my thought process back of where and who I want to be when it comes to money.

You know the lotter winners or people who have come into a large sum of money and who has not had any money saving educations go out and spend money on crazy stuff like 4 houses when you only need on 10 cars when you can only drive 1, expensive furniture, trips treating everybody they can think of. It's crazy. like this video.

 Also you have the flip side like this one which I can more relate to. Granted I am not a billionaire but the principles are still the same for whatever amount you have. So, which one would you be if you had the money??

Like some of you I love my Dollar tree stores. Especially the bigger ones with more inventory to offer. Anyway, I was in dollar tree yesterday and I saw that they had bags of Halloween candy. Me thinking that the bags of candy was $1.25. I thought what a bargain . So, I picked up a few bags. When the cashier rang up $5 dollars for the candy bags. I was surprised. I asked her I thought these were $1.25. Since they were in the dollar store. She told me no. They have a variety of items that are regular price. So why call yourself a dollar store when you have stuff in it higher then $1,25? So just beware that not all dollar tree store stuff cost $1.25

So, it's October what are you doing has far as finding extra ways to save money. I took back two big bags of plastic bottles yesterday and got almost $8 for the trouble. I am donating a lot of stuff to charity for the tax write off and so that I can de -clutter my life. I am looking for holiday vacation deals that offer me free rooms or deeply discounted ones with free food included. So that I can spend some time away on the cheap. That's what I am doing what are you doing to enjoy your life but still maintain your frugal/cheapskate ways?

Fear!!

Have you ever had that feeling of fear that you just can't shake. I have that feeling right now and it's that I won't have enough money to live on. I have saved all my life since I started working at 14 I saved my money. I have worked two jobs during the course of my work history for 5 years or more. One part-time and one full-time. My part-time jobs I saved the money and lived on my full-time job after I had them take out all the deductions for charity investments, saving. I came on with a low paycheck. Most of the time I had to ask my co- workers what we made because my checks were so little because of my deductions. Which I am glad I did.  Because now seeing my pension check from the city after 20 years of service and bulls**t isn't enough to live on even if it's in small town U.SA.

 My advice to you if you can save what you can and take advantage of all the government services and charities that offer the things you need like food services, medical services, transportation  services etc. If you need it don't be ashamed to use it. Your tax dollars have paid for it so why not see if there are services that would benefit your needs. I have looked into some, but I don't qualify but if I did, I would use them. Nothing like paying for services that you can't use, and we pay for them through our tax dollars. 

    Fear it's a motivator to make us all do better even a cheapskate like me!

Fall Is Here!!

Happy fall. You know what that means spending money time. It's Halloween candies and costumes which means money, Thanksgiving big dinners and high food bills more money and the Christmas season meaning even more money spent with gift giving and party giving. Yes, this will be an expensive season for cheapskates/frugal people like us. That's where the saved coins, coupons and yard sales come int to play. Coupons and store opening offer discounts on the things that you need to purchase e for the holidays, coins saved is also for that reason and yard sales are for gift giving. You don't know how many yard sales I have been to this year that I have seen decorations cheap. I even purchased a few gifts myself to give away that were new and pretty cheap.

You just have to be creative and think outside the box. I know inflation and the high cost of everything is killing us. But think smaller and more thoughtfulness and less expensive.

                          Well that's a cheapcheetah two cents for today.

How Much Is Fun?

How much does fun cost? Being a cheapskate, it cost me a lot this past week. I went to Atlantic City to gamble then visit family. We ended the trip in Cape May. The Hard Rock Hotel &Casino in Atlantic city for 3 nights cost me $70 bucks. The food and mics tips  cost me $150 for two people for the stay at the casino. Transporation getting there and going home cost me $120 that's bridge tolls and gas. Family dinners cost $100. Cape May buying sweets treats cost me about $20 bucks. So, all that adds up to money, but it was well spent because I did it with family and I had fun. Sometimes being a cheapskate/frugal person  is not worth it if it interferes with your family and fun life. What do you think? Oh, yea I made my money back gambling plus extra.

It's the holiday weekends and back to school time. Being a cheapskate/frugal person did you think about where are you getting the money for the kids and school this year. Here's some ideas that might help you.

1 The coins that you've been saving might not be much but every bit helps when it comes o getting back to school supplies.

2. Take advantage of the sales and going out of  business that stores offer.

3. See what you can use from last year this year for your kids. When it comes to back to school stuff.

4 Yard sales and flea markets are your friends. I've seen tons of school supplies for dirt cheap at these events.

5. See if your community or church/organizations are giving back to school item to the community

6.  Swap with friends and family who have older children or the same age children going back to school has yours for clothing and school supplies.

7. If the child is old enough see if they can't get a part-time job to buy their own supplies they need for school.

8. Shop Thrift Stores: Thrift stores and consignment shops can have great finds, especially for things like backpacks and pencil cases.

9Ask About Student Discounts: Some retailers offer student discounts or special promotions for back-to-school shopping. It’s worth asking!

10 Use a Cash-Back Credit Card: If you use a credit card, choose one that offers cash-back rewards for purchases. This can give you a little extra savings. Has Your Last Resort

Unexpected

 How does a cheapskate/frugal person prepare for unexpected bills? Bills that you never knew were coming. I got an energy bill yesterday that was $657.00. that was very unexpected. Being a cheapskate who already lives in an expensive place like New York. I went on the level budget billing plan with my energy bill. Which means every month I know what my bill will be so I can budget according. Until this bill came yesterday. The energy company says that They made an error, so I have to pay them an extra $657.00. This not only pissed me off it made ne depressed. I hate spending money. 

So, what do you do with unexpected bills. First if you can save extra money somewhere for the unexpected. If you can. You can also call the company you owe to see if they can work with you in lowing your payment. If you can charge the payment and pay off the credit card as soon as possible. At least by charging it gives you room to make smaller payments on the bill. Call to find out if you really owe the bill some companied do make mistakes you know. See if you can cut back in other areas just this once to pay the bill and it all depends on how much the bill is. Sell some stuff if you have it or pawn shop it until to get the money you need.

       These are just a few basic suggestions for you when you have unexpected bills to pay

Not Kind To Cheapskates

Happy July so how's the saving going. I wanted to tell you about a place that's not kind to cheapskates/frugal people and that's casinos. I visited one this weekend and where they use to give you free food, money to play , free drinks along with free rooms and parking all that is gone. That's the only reason a cheapskate like me went gambling because of all the free incentive and it was by the beach. So I could have a mini vacation almost free which I loved. Now on my last visit the room for 3 nights cost me $127 which was ok because I only paid the tax and services charges for the three nights. But get this I made a local call in the room which was suppose to be free but they charged me $10 for less then a 5 minute call.  When I asked the hotel why the $0 charge for  a local call they said the call was outside of the hotel which made it long distance, but it was the same area code. Go figure

The parking at these casinos are no longer free it's $10 or more to park. The food bills  and most of the restaurants will be over $30 dollars and the food they serve is horrible to say the least. The rooms have paper thin walls so you could hear everything in the hall and in other rooms. Let's not talk about the payback from the slot machines which was none. So yea it use to be a time where you could go to casinos have fun and spend very little money. That time has passed for a cheapskate like me. So, if you have had better luck at a casino let me know I would love to hear about it.

Happy June. Do you realize that June is expensive. It's wedding, cook outs, family events, trips and other things that cost money. Plus, I think some of the bills that we normally pay come in  June like home insurance, car registration and inspections things like that. Anyway, I here to say it's Money Challenge time. I suck at challenges of any kind, but I thought this might be a simple one to do for the month of June. Let's see if we can make  or save 85 cents to $1 a day by doing something that you're not already doing. You think it's easy to make or save .85 cents a day guess again it's not so easy. I know your saying do surveys and such but do they really pay? Me being a cheapskate I like to work and see my money within a few days not a few months like surveys offer you. Anyway, that's my challenge for the month of June. Heck I could save .85 cents a day if I stay  away from playing that darn lotto all the time.

May is here already, and I am back to rolling coins and trying to make sense of all my bills. Is it only me that seem when the nice weather comes around seems like I get  more  bills to pay then normal. Remember always check your credit card statement, bank account  or anything else that involves your money check it.  I have seen a few times where I had to question charges on my account.  And don't forget every penny helps when you do roll them they add up to purchasing the small things you might need in life.

Question, Question Question everything when it comes to your money every bill that you have to pay if you feel the bill is not correct or if your being cheated out of something question it. If you're not getting the discounts that are advertised question it. It's your money and you have a right to make sure you're spending and saving it the way you want to.  I do just that if it doesn't look right, I question it.

Time For Yard Saving

It's that time again yard work season. I hate yard work, but I have to do it or pay a gardener $27 dollar a week to do it for me. Pass I am to cheap and besides when you do yard work it's like exercise right. well to me it is, and I am saving $27 bucks in the process. What I don't like is that my weedwhacker broke on me after 10 years of service. I purchased it at sears for $50 bucks. Now Home Depot and others want $150 for the same weedwhacker. I am looking for one at yard sales this year I know they will be cheaper than anything I could buy in Home Depot and probably better to.

I am trying out a vacation this year a cruise, but can you say rip off. The free at sea stuff is not really free . Like their free drink package why am I paying $300 for the package if it's free. Also, the gratuities for the trip which will be 7 days will run about $250 for two people and this is just tips. Who am I paying and what services am I paying for at that price. That's not even included in the 3,000 dollars I'm already paying to go on the trip.  When they say cruising is a nickel and dime business they speak the truth. The only way you can go cheap is to find a great cruising rate and don't use anything that is not offered for free in the price. I tried going as cheaply as possible when it comes to cruising. I bring everything I might need only stick to free stuff which on a cruise is not much. Not like it used to be anyway. The whole thing is about having fun enjoying the port of calls and relaxing right? I still like to do all this the cheapskate way. If you have been on a cruise and you did its cheap share some of your ideas right here love to hear them.

April Already???

Happy April first off I am not going to lie to you I have not been my usual frugal self lately. I have had things that I needed to get like a chair for my Livingroom and two kitchen chairs. Why didn't you tell me furniture was so expensive. I have even when to a few thrift stores for secondhand furniture and they even want a lot for the used stuff. I have seen some used chairs go for as much as $100-300 dollars. That's crazy to me for used stuff. it's the same prices for the new furniture in the stores. I think what I will do is wait until I can go to estates sales and moving sales and maybe this summer. I will have luck finding the chairs I need. who cares if it doesn't match my living room as long as it's sturdy and cheap its ok by me. Same with the kitchen chairs. So, my tip to you being a cheapskate if you need something and can't find it in your price range wait on it if you can it's bound to come along cheaper t a later date. just have patience and it will come to you I promise you that.

Happy March. So, how's the money saying coming along? Since already hit the third month of the year and so fast to. For me I can't lie to you Amazon got me this month. Meaning I was looking for earring and the regular stores wanted $70 dollars and up for earring. I find some nice ones for $20 bucks on amazon. Which was much cheaper. I swore I would never use amazon to purchase but I will say things are much cheaper there then in retail stores. Have you seen the stuff they are selling in retail stores now. Even J.C. Penny which use to be cheap has went up in price that's kind of crazy to me. I see why everybody his making Jeff Bazo rich. So, March should be the start of a new challenge for you or something that you should give up. For me it's playing lotto. I got a bad addition for a cheapskate like myself and I am giving it all up for the month of march. So, what will you be giving up saving money this month?

Cd Rates

                                                         Hello My Cheap Cheetah Family.  

So, how's 2024 treating you so far. Most importantly how is your money treating you in the new year. Here's what I have been doing looking at bank rates on certificates of deposits. Right now my bank is offer 5.5% on their cd rates. Which is pretty good compared to 0.07% that you would get on a checking or saving account. At least with a cd account you can make a little bit of money on your money. To open an account in some banks it's only $100 and in others like mind is $500. I know that interest on $500 is not much but it beats what the stock market is giving you which that interest goes up and down too much for me.

So now I am scouting for better Cd rates and trying to scrape the $500 dollars together to put into one that will offer me a bit extra for doing so. I know your saying cd rates sucks. But what the heck it beats buying lotto tickets and losing all the time. That's another story for another day. I rather get a little bit then none at all. And yes, you have to pay tazes on the interest but if you have a lot of deductions or you don't make any money like me then your good, I think. Well, that's one of my cheap cheetah ways to make some money see who paying good interest and open an account at that bank.

It's Hard Be Cheap

                                                             Hello Family Happy New Year

Hello all well here's the my cheapskate story so far for the New Year 2024. Can we all say Rip Off. I had a taste for a whopper and I went to burger king. I usually get cheese with my whopper but now they are charging you $2 extra for a slice of cheese. I told them forget it. I ordered the regular whopper which tasted nasty, and it cost $8 a whopper from the normal $5. This year I am staying away from fast food it's too expensive and nasty tasting. It's hard being a cheapskate when prices keep going up. after I purchased the whopper I said I should have just gone to the store and got a package of ground beef and make a burger myself. At least I could have made a couple of burgers for later on for the price I paid for two whoppers.

So are we trying to save money in 2024. I keep saying I'm but bills always come in the mail that have to be paid and things break down which cost more than $200 to get it fixed.  I have set a budget for myself of $20 for fun stuff like me playing the lotto or getting a small treat. when the 20's gone for the month then I can't get another one until next month.

So how's the frugal/cheapskate life treating you so far. And are you saving that money like your suppose to be?

  Happy New Year Family Your probably taking advantage of the after holiday sales right? But wait.... ask yourself do you really need more junk to add to the junk you already have? Make sure that you are doing some kind of money challenge this year. I heard of a good one it's the weather money challenge whatever the weather is for the day in your city that's the money you have to put away for that day. I like this idea. So  for example in New Yorks it's 43 degrees I would have to put $43 dollars away today or you can do it weekly so every Monday whatever the temperature  is that's the money you have to save. If you don't have that kind of money to put away then use coins and put 43 cents away instead. As long has your saving something that's the whole point of it.
