As we can see this year and last year was more about family then money. Try to make it both in 2022. Save that money but also visit the people that you care about. For my cheapskate past time, I watch the show the Secret Lives Of The Super Rich. you can watch it free on peacock tv. Anyway, the reason I like watching it is because this show tells you what muti millionaires and billionaires buy. And if you look at it from a frugal/cheapskate point of view you say why are you buying this stuff just to say you have it and you're buying for the purpose of what else are you going to do with all that money but buy stuff just to have.

On one of the show a multimillionaire purchased a 100-million-dollar Manhattan penthouse in the highest building in New York. He stated that he never was going to live in it. So why buy it then?  A lot of the multi-millionaires and some billionaires buy stuff just to show off to other billionaires and millionaires.  They all have such big egos.  I find the show entertaining because people with money can spend it on such foolish things. It's fun to watch and comment on it. Think about it what if you were muti-millionaire what would you buy? Being a frugal cheapskate, I would update my home. buy a condo in Vegas ( a cheap one at that) and invest the rest so that I could live off the interest. My lifestyle would not change as much I just would have more money.

Great Idea

I was reading about this idea from a woman who does it and I wanted to share it with you.  When this woman returns her bottles back to the store for the 5 cent deposit. She saves the money from the bottle returns and uses it for the holiday season to buy stocking stuffers and whatnots. I thought this was a great idea. Even though your bottles returns can be $2 dollars or sometimes less. This money does add up. So, what do you think? I might try this myself starting 2022.                                                                       Hello Family.

 This is one that I wanted to share with you when it comes to thinking about the real cost of Holiday gifts. I wanted to purchase 2 gift baskets from Harry & David. The cost would be $40 for each basket plus they have now added a surcharge to your purchase. Because you are sending it after Nov 24th. That's something new because I use to always send items without the surcharge. Anyway, with shipping the price would have cost me over $100.  I said forget about it. Instead, I went to family dollar took $25 dollars and purchase the items that I needed to make my own holiday gift baskets for two people. The only thing extra would be the postage to ship the items. But overall, it would be less than $100. 

Being a proud cheapskate, I say when it comes to giving gifts for the holidays always think of other ways to give gifts. Give your time or scratch off lottery tickets (I do this one myself) Cook something the person likes that you make.

             The holidays do not have to be expensive; it just has to be fun and loving.

How are you today?  I was thinking with Thanksgiving around the corner I started planning my menu. Which it's not going to be much but here it is.

• Turkey Legs on sales 4 in a pack for $7 
• Can Of cranberry sauce .76 cents
• Bag of mixed salad  2 bags for $3.
• Stove top stuffing box $1.19 I know that was kind of expensive for a cheapskate like me
• Box  of jiffy  corn bread mix .79 I remember when cornbread mix was .49 cents 
• Pecan/Apple/Or blueberry pie  .50 each
• Something to drink Water.

I was thinking the other day if you want a small thanksgiving and not spend to much money. Look into going to Walmart. I love their pies 2 for $1 and mixed veggies are about $1 a bag. Their meats look ok to be honest I have never purchase any from them. Other then free I find that Walmart comes close to the cheapskate prices I want to pay for food. I am a new yorker so you know our food prices along with everything else is expensive. Dollar Tee & Family Dollar

The media is doing it again telling everyone that there are food shortages in many stores because of the shipping containers that are stuck at sea. Also because there are no truck drivers to deliver the shipments  to the  stores. The media says  Gas prices, food prices and eating out has gone up between 10-15%.

That's why the media  is suggestion that people find other places to shop beside their normal supermarkets. I can not lie everytime  I shop in my supermarket I spend a good $100 on 2 bags of nothing.. I look for mangers specials now when it comes to meat and other items that are expensive. I wait until my store has eggs for 99 cents and other sales.  I have also notice that the packaging  is smaller and the price is higher.

Family dollar are the places that people are shopping at now. They are making a killing in their food department. Yes you can buy and make some decent meals for under $10 at the dollar store. ( I Posted a video about this)   But don't forget some of the stuff you find in the dollar store/family dollar  you don't know where it comes from. So be careful. Only buy the products that you know and shop with a budget. Also you need to look into purchasing stock in Family Tree/ Family  dollar stores that way your getting your money back in dividends when you shop the store. Just a suggestion.

I don't know about you but this is a new month to start fresh with spending or shall I say not spending any money. Have you done your October Budgets, decided on what your not spending money on for the month. Me it's  I am on the lotto wagon again. Have you challenged yourself to make more money . I have  created the make $2 dollars a day challenge for myself . This challenge might sound simple but believe me it's not.  the goal is to see if you can make $2 dollars a day or $14 for the week. 

Also have you looked at your goals and decided what you have to do to get to them be it money or anything else? October is a great month to start over and to make your money challenges happen.

It's Killing Me

This is not good for a cheapskate person like myself. I did my monthly spending budget for Sept 2021. I see that I spend most of my money on breakfast sandwiches from the bagel place and gambling. Really playing the lottery. I have spend  about $70 a month on breakfast but that's for 2 people and Over $100 playing that darn lotto.  But sometimes I do win a few bucks from lotto. I know this is wrong but I will do better. I look at it like this way . Yes I like to save money but life is so short. Covid-19 showed me that. So why not live a little. Enjoy the money that you have worked so hard to save.

Keep It Up

With everything that's going in  the world today. It's hard to keep up. When it comes to your money besides your family & health. Your money  should be #1 , 2 or maybe 3 on your list of things to keep up with. We all need money and without it how will you pay your bills, eat, drive, or take care of yourself and family without it.

I have notice that a lot of us do not pay attention to our money and the main reason is that we might not have any to pay attention to. If that is the case. You can find ways to make  money. Your creative. Think outside of the box. Create a business, sale at vendor events, take on a part-time job. Where there's a will there's a way. 

If your paying down your debt, saving for retirement, saving for a home, education, vacation. all I can say to you is keep it up. It takes baby steps to make something great happen.  You might fall down lord knows I have fell a few times  but I get up and keep it moving toward my goal one step at a time.

Have you thought about how much you will need to live in retirement. Some say you need millions of dollars. Some say you don't. Being a frugal/cheapskate I say do a basic budget to see how much your expenses are now. I did a basic budget and I see in order to maintain my simple lifestyle and pay my bills I need an extra $200-2500 coming in a month. My pension and social security will not cover my basic living expenses.

Some say to live off your saving good advice if you have saving. But what if you have a little bit of saving say $10,000. If you keep taking from that to live on you will not be paying your bills after a period of time because you would have  used up all your saving.   What I am getting at is this life is so unpredictable but if you start now do a budget, cut back on the  things you don't need and save what you can. You might be able to  continue to live your lifestyle or a simpler one when you retire.

Look at your life and what you want it to be in retirement. Save for it, Budget for it and then go for it!

                               That's what I am doing in a cheapskate fashion.

Almost Labor Day

                                                                 Hello Family..

It's almost Labor day. Well in 2 weeks it will be. Have you thought about what your plans will be? If your having a family BBQ/ If so then here are my cheapskate suggestions about what to do  for  your BBQ.

1. Find mangers  specials  in the meat department of your supermarket. I have seen some mangers specials tags on meat.  The  meat  was  still good but  it was  expiring soon that 's why they had the mangers specials tag on it. These specials are marked down at a good discount. I have  purchased lamb chops  for $3.00 a pack where they normally go for $7-8 dollars a pack. Same with turkey legs. If you can not find mark down meat go with chicken it's usually cheap, forget hamburger and steaks  to expensive. Hotdogs your might can find cheap if your not picky on the brand you buy.

2. Dollar Tree is your friend you can find your decorations, some basic food items like chips, cookies, cakes mixes, peanuts ,cups and plates that you might need for your BBQ.

3. Everybody loves Walmart they are not a cheap as they use to be. But they can come in handy when it comes to buying sodas or that big can of Lipton ice tea and fruit punch mix. Making your own ice tea and fruit bunch is much cheaper then buying it.

4. For music you can always set up a radio or your iPad, or if you know someone that is a part-time Dj ask them to hook you up with the music for a  small fee or a plate of food. Which ever works the best for the both of you

5. Entertainment for the kids you can buy balloons for a water fight, freebee,  a big plastic ball for dodgeball.  Set up a volley ball net  play volley ball. All these things can be found at your local dollar tree or family dollar store.

6. If your drinking alcoholic beverages have some of your company bring some. You can buy bottles of wine under $5 at your local wine store or some Walmart  stores carry wine and beer at a low cost. What about the booze you got for the holidays use that up and save your money. 

7. Dessert you can make cookies,  get fruit on sale and make a fruit salad dessert, ice pops, Tell the family to bring dessert as well.

8. Most importantly it's family and fun enjoy yourself but be wize about spending when you do it.

Bermuda Grocery Store Prices

$8.30 A Day

                                                                         Hello Family..

$8.30 cents a day makes $58 a week which makes $3016 for the year. I tell you this because that is my goal for 2022. To make $8.30 cents a day so that  I can have $3016.00 for 2022 This money I would use for spending money on the two cruised that I plan to go on for my birthday next year.

That's the plan anyway. But have you ever tried to get $8.30 cents a day. I know you say do surveys tried that Most of the surveys I tried  I am not accepted or I wait to long and they have already closed. Maybe it's just me but spending 30 minutes for $1-3 dollar surveys are not that attractive to me.

I sell stuff on line but right now people are being very selectively of what they buy and the price they buy it for.  I see people more likely spending less then $10 for an item. So selling on line which I do is a hit or miss game for me.

Yes I mystery shop but they are far and few between to. Also the price they pay you to shop has gone down a lot I use to get $10 for phone calls now I am lucky if I get $7. I use to get $15 for bank shops now it's like $12. Let's not count the time and gas you need to get to these places. I am lucky if I make $5 on a shop after expenses.

All I am saying is making $8.30 cents a day ain't easy. But if you have a goal in mind and you have determination it could be done. Set your goals, don't let anything stop you, think outside of the box and  get moving.

I Need to Quit You

                                                                       Hello Family..

Am I the only one with this problem. When the Jackpots on mega Million and Powerball reach  227 million and 275 million I am running to the lottery place to purchase $10 dollars worth of tickets. I can not tell you how much I spend in a month playing lottery games. I have  fantasies in my head if I just hit it big one time I am out! I know being a cheapskate this is not good. But I say if I spend $20 a month for entertainment  and this is it I am still ahead of the game right?

 I  am a savaholic and yes I do save money but at what point can you spend money for enjoyment. Life is about saving and experiences to. I am finding this out  more  since I have  gotten older and  my friends and family are passing away to soon in life. What good is saving money if you can not enjoy it while your living?

Don't get me wrong I am a cheapskate for life but sometimes life is meant to be enjoyed. So save the money, have the emergency funds but enjoy some of that money you have worked so hard to save. Life is to short not to have enjoyment.

Tuesday Funny

                                                                       Hello Family..

Just wanted to give you a Tuesday Funny. Also show you the sign of the times. I use to go to the longest yard sale which starts in Alabama and ends in Ohio. You go through Tennessee which is a pretty long state and Kentucky. You had  miles of people selling all kinds of stuff. I loved it. When I went I ate good ( southern food) and the prices were right 25 -50cents, 1-5 dollars, free sometimes.

Now sign of the times last year  2020  prices for hotel stays  in the area's were $1200 or more for 3 nights. Last time I went I paid $325 for 3 night stay. The merchandise that people were selling in 2020  was 3 times the normal price. And with the virus people did not come last year like they did the pervious years. I saying this to you to say. Enjoy  the things your doing  or are  going to do while they last. Because things can change in a blink of an eye.
